IRS Announces Standard Mileage Rates for 2009
Beginning on 01/01/2009, the Standard Mileage Rates for the use of a vehicle will be:
- $.55/mile for business purposes
- $.24/mile for medical & moving purposes
- $.14/mile for charitable purposes
The new rates are slightly lower than rates for the 2nd half of 2008 ($.58.5/$.27 per mile for business/medical & moving purposes) but still higher than for those of the 1st half of 2008 ($.50.5/$.19 per mile for business/medical & moving purposes). The rate for charitable purposes is set by law and is unchanged from that used in 2008.
